Dir Aziz

Dir Aziz – a small Jewish village was situated on the Golan mountain.  The Jewish settlement that flourished here in the Mishnaic and Talmudic periods (Byzantine periods), 2nd-8th centuries AD.  A small Synagogue and a big oil press was found in the village.

Under the Synagogue floor were found hundreds of ancient coins. On one of the lintel was written: AZIZO, like the village name Aziz.
